Over the weekend I had the pleasure of speaking at the Montessori Early Childhood Conference on trends in progressive education and the implications for Montessori. Over the course of an hour I gave a presentation ambitiously titles ‘The Next One Hundred Years’. It began with an overview of the various strands of progressive education that inspired and surrounded Montessori. We then explored the current environment and looked at the potential challenges and opportunities that it offers the movement.
It was fantastic to meet so many passionate educators sharing such a rich tradition. I, for one, will be fascinated to see how the movement evolves in coming years.
